Spiral arms in a flaky disc
This slider tool features the spiral galaxy NGC 2090, located in the constellation Columba.
The image on the left shows the combination of data from Webb’s MIRI and NIRCam instruments shows the galaxy’s two winding spiral arms and the swirling gas and dust of its disc in magnificent and unique detail.
The image on the right is a new image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, featured this week as part of the ESA/Hubble Picture of the Week series, and shows the bright light from the galaxy's stars among the plentiful dust in its disc.
