Westerlund 2 (HST image)
This image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope showcases part of the Westerlund 2 star cluster that was featured as Hubble’s 25th anniversary image in 2015. The full image and its details can be explored here.
[Image Description: A cluster of stars inside a large nebula. The stars inside the nebula are very bright and many are tinged red in colour, due to the layers of dust in front of them. Other stars, in colours like yellow and blue, lie in front of the nebula. The background is covered with dark, obscuring clouds of gas and dust, at parts lit faintly in red, blue and yellow colours by the star cluster.]
